- As a global public health recommendation, infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life to achieve optimal growth, development and health.

- Mothers should have access to skilled practical support, for example trained health workers or IBCLC lactation consultants, to ensure a good start and a continuation of the form of nutrition they have chosen and to prevent or resolve breastfeeding problems
